Music Electronics: DIY Handheld Synthesizer with Marc Leclair
Build a version of the Atari Punk Console synthesizer that fits in an Altoids tin. You'll get all of the necessary materials and detailed instructions. The synthesizer runs on a 9V battery and is made to plug into a guitar amplifier via a quarter inch jack.

Coptic Binding & Laser Cutting with Andre Lee Bassuet
Spend a leisurely morning learning how to do this ancient Egyptian binding technique to make a beautiful sketchbook. This binding features an exposed spine and visible chain stitching that lays flat when open. In addition, we will learn how to laser cut our book covers.

Reduction Woodcut with Joanna Booth
In this intermediate course, students will learn how to create a reduction cut print. Students should already be familiar with basic relief techniques and printing processes. In this course students will learn how to plan and execute a three-layer Reduction Cut print. By the end of the course students will have an edition of prints and will have built the skills to continue their woodcut practice.

Intro to Screenprinting: Get Printing with Shannon Kennelly
Intro to Silkscreen "Get Printing" provides a comprehensive introduction to screen printing set up, techniques, registration, and troubleshooting for you to get your design printed! Participants will prepare a stencil of their digital or hand drawn two-color designs of a maximum dimension of 8" x 10" each and practice printing with silkscreens to get their projects printed.

Woodshop: Stool Making with Jeffrey Yoo Warren
Learn how to make your own folding wooden stool to take home and use! You will leave this workshop with a finished stool and basic woodworking skills. This stool design incorporates simple joinery to create a stool made from fir that folds flat and can be hung on a wall. Try different cutting and sanding techniques as well as a clamped “glue-up” to bind the pieces together. Please bring: KN95 mask, closed toed shoes, hair ties, sharp pencil, no metal jewelry.

Tiny Books Intensive with Andre Lee Bassuet
This is an intensive introduction to bookbinding in miniature format. Students can use decorative paper and colorful thread to personalize their tiny books. Students will learn three types of bookbinding using glue and non-glue methods, and samples of 3 tiny books: the accordion, pamphlet and Japanese stab binding. This intensive includes the addition of a drum leaf book. Students can bring decorative papers or items for collage.

Make your own analog tank reverb in an 8p Eurorack module. This sounds warm & rich and of course, reverb goes well with everything. With controls for mix and sustain, you can shape your synth sound to fit your unique style.

Introduction to 4x8 ShopBot CNC Operations with Ryan Alexander
This workshop will give you the skills to create Computer Aided Designs (CAD) for CNC milling applications. Create furniture, signage, manufacturing jigs, artwork, and much more. The course includes an overview of the history and capabilities of modern manufacturing, CAD design principles and practices, and CNC operation and safety protocol. Once the course is complete, students will be authorized to use the 4'x8' shopbot cnc independently.

Cyanotype with Andre Lee Bassuet
Chase the winter blues away by making your own cyanotypes or sunprints. Cyanotype is a photographic printing technique used by artists, botanists and architects for almost 200 years. In this course, you’ll learn all the steps required to create your cyanotype prints: from preparation to the creation of images using both digital photographic negatives and hand-drawn negatives, to exposure to light and fixating color. Discover how to apply your prints onto different surfaces such as paper, fabric and wood.

Music Electronics: DIY Theremin with Marc Leclair
The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer. Would you like to make your own theremin in an Altoids tin? Once complete, you can make sounds like an old scifi movie.

Introduction to Woodcut with Joanna Booth
Students will receive a comprehensive introduction to woodcut printmaking. At the end of the course students will have learned how to plan a woodcut, how to safely carve out their design and how to print either using hand printing techniques or using the etching press.

Paper marbling is a decorative technique from the Middle East and Europe that uses water or a viscous solution to create patterns on paper like stone or marble. The patterns are created by floating colors on the surface of the liquid and then being transferred to the paper. This technique is used by designers, painters, bookmakers, creative postcards and Posters backgrounds, calligraphy, and more.

Music Electronics: Guitar Fuzz Pedal with Marc Leclair
Build an analog fuzz effect pedal for guitar that fits in an Altoids Tin. The fuzz sound was popularized by the psychedelic movement by bands like Jimi Hendrix and The Cream. We will build a fuzz circuit that produces those saturated harmonic overtones. Bring your guitar or use ours to try out your Altoids Fuzz right after you build your circuit.

Lego Letterpress with Andre Lee Bassuet
Come out and play with LEGOs and letterpress! In this fun, hands-on workshop, use LEGO tile bricks and a printing press to create and edition your own 8-bit letterpress work of art to share with others. We’ll provide the bricks, press and paper! No experience necessary.

Intro to Laser & Vinyl Cutting with Larry Zagorsky
Get certified to laser-cut wood, plastics, papers or textiles on the Epilog Mini AND learn how to use the vinyl cutter to make stickers and signs! This class will cover the basics of using the laser and vinyl cutter safely, techniques for working with different materials, and software tools for preparing work for the cutters. You’ll solder electronic components and wires onto a circuit board to build your own synth in an Altoids tin. Once your circuit is built and running, we'll experiment with sonic capabilities by using a guitar amplifier and effect pedals. This is an easy build for beginners. Get ready to explore the worlds of lo-fi synthesizers and electronics!
