  • Dance at AS220 invites the creation, study, and performance of dance for all to enjoy and experience. We support artists, audiences and community through programs and spaces that connect movement and ideas through the physical body. We honor and celebrate the wonder and curiosity of dance for all. Our facilities and services are made available to all dancers who need a place to teach, learn, perform, or create original work, especially those who don’t have access to space from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations. We, the people of Rhode Island, associate ourselves for the purpose of providing a local forum and home for the arts, through the maintenance of residential and work studios, galleries, performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and performances in the forum will be unjuried, uncensored and open to the general public. Our facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations.

  • Dance at AS220 offers access to all who want to create, teach, learn, and be in community. We offer classes, performances and expressive development in a safe, inclusive environment. We envision a world where all people, no matter who they are, can explore their creative potential through movement practice. Our space, programs, and offerings are designed to support AS220’s Orgwide anti-racist and liberatory creative practices.

DANCE FOR THE DIASPORA

The AS220 Dance Program is back this Saturday!

After a pause between seasons, we’re thrilled to get the Dance Program season rolling with two days of movement, culture, joy, and community.

On Saturday, April 11, Dance for the Diaspora begins in the AS220 Dance Studio with a full day of classes, wellness, and celebration rooted in the traditions, rhythms, and histories of Black, Indigenous, and global diasporas, offered by The Haus of Glitter - continuing into April 12th, with a couple of special Sunday workshops.

Dance for the Diaspora is:

  • A celebration of Black + Indigenous + global diasporas

  • A community for education, cultural practice, and wellness

  • A movement for social change and togetherness

ALL ARE WELCOME, whether you are an experienced dancer, a curious beginner, or simply looking for a place to move, connect, and celebrate.

If you can't attend, you can even sponsor participants to attend who may not have the means!

Visit www.danceforthediaspora.com to learn more and to register for a full day or single workshops.
