October Gallery Opening

Ewa Rose’s paintings

hanging in the

Main Gallery

Opening Reception | Saturday October 12th 5-7pm

It was Wednesday morning when Dave (AS220’s communication director) and I took a walk through each gallery to see the October, shows being hung. Seeing each individual's work sharing a space is such a beautiful thing, one theme that stuck with me through each exhibit was honoring the values of craftsmanship. Currently, the Project Space Gallery holds two unparalleled collections.
Bill Shockley’s “Recent Bronze” is a collection of handcrafted bronze pieces ranging from masks, weapons, and household items. Bill’s work had me constantly returning and looking deeper into each piece. Making a practice that is centuries old unique and personable with his designs while mixing elements of nature to create something certainly special. The “Brain Trust” show opens on 10/12 and runs till 10/26 in the Project Space Gallery.

This wasn’t the only thing we saw after taking a stroll down to the Main Gallery on Empire Street. Before us stood the oil paintings of Ewa Rose, these truly amazed me. The size of each piece made me feel as if I were being sent down a pathway into the cosmos. Reading deeper into Ewa’s artistic statement gave me a pure sense of awe. Taking steps back I found shapes and patterns I wasn’t able to see before. Each piece builds upon the last, connecting life, and the moon, and then bringing it back down to earth for us to experience. “Opening Your Heart With the Energies of the Cosmos” shares an opening day of 10/12 so I highly recommend checking out both if you’re around and interested, 5 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, October 12th on 93 Mathewson St and 115 Empire Street.
