A Portrait of Providence: a Work in Progress

Carlos De La Rosa

Carlos’ work explores identity, migration, memory, and belonging through photography. As a first-generation American of Dominican descent, he is interested in how personal histories intersect with larger cultural narratives and how people shape, and are shaped by, the places they inhabit. Through his images, Carlos examines the evolving American landscape as a reflection of social, economic, and cultural change.

READING ROOM

There will always be a space in my parking lot
Dan Talbot

Dan Talbot is a plein air painter who develops each of his paintings as a compilation of painterly vignettes. In his work, the local landscape is reimagined through lens of comics and collage, maps and mixed-media abstraction. His paintings are intuitive and thoughtful, like a densely packed diary of the everyday.

Adjusting to the Dark

curated by Isabella Uliasz

Adjusting to the Dark asks artists to consider themselves both creator and observer, affecting and being affected by their work. It honors the autumnal themes of decay and increasing darkness, offering space for strategic application of life-giving light.

Images Left to Right: Robert Silviera & Tony Carniero

Tasty Tilt Persuasions
Tony Carniero

Tony’s creative energy is fueled by American pop culture: movies, television shows, and music—especially 1950’s rock ‘n’ roll. His artwork utilizes collage, assemblage, digital manipulation, and serigraphy as these media relate to rock‘n’roll culture. Tony invites the viewer to experience the psychedelic frenzy of pure joy represented within the collaged images and assembled art objects. Forget your troubles and enjoy the thrills!

The Majestic Nature of Wildlife
Robert Silviera

Robert’s exhibit celebrates the beauty of wildlife and the need to preserve a place for all living beings capable of surviving and living under one ecosphere. “Every living being has a place on this planet to thrive”  and he strives to show the beauty and majesty of endangered wildlife animals.

Lumuku

Leftovers
Lumuku

Over the years, Lumuku has applied for many art grants and (to our surprise) frequently received the feedback that their artwork is polarizing to the evaluating committee. The panelists either love it or hate it.

People often feel the same way about leftovers. And just like leftovers, Lumuku loves the art that they make. The illustrations in this show are either from a past show and in need of a new home or are a smattering of recently made pieces that don't belong to any particular theme or collection... in essence, these works are all leftovers. Please enjoy!
