AS220 Youth’s Futureworlds 2024

AS220 Youth's FUTUREWORLDS returns to the AS220 Black Box Theater for six performances from June 20 - 22 and 27 - 29! Don't miss your chance to catch the latest edition of AS220 Youth's annual multi-media, multi-disciplinary, theatrical performance extravaganza. Get tickets in advance now!

FUTUREWORLDS is co-produced by the young artists of AS220 Youth, staff members, and artists from the community at large. Together, they spend the year collectively learning while envisioning, working on, and manifesting creative projects guided by a curriculum of hip hop, Afrofuturism, and social justice education. This experience gives young people the resources to co-create highly visible work that transforms the way they think about art, community, and justice, and empowers them to re-imagine a more just and equitable world.

FUTUREWORLDS 8: What Happened to the IV? is the culmination of all this work. Always on the cutting edge, and never shying away from the pressing issues of our times, this year's production tackles themes concerning racial justice, generational trauma, gentrification, artificial intelligence, and climate change. Want to know how the young people of Providence think and feel about the world? Now's your chance.

There will be acting. There will be dance. There will be music. There will be emceeing. There will be art running the gamut of creativity - painting, illustration, video, apparel. You will be blown away (trust me, I've been to every one of these events since 2015).
