On Sunday at 7:00pm we’ll be taking PVDLoop 2024 to brand new heights! We’re presenting a special night of Multimedia, Silent and Experimental Films with Live Soundtracks. We’ll combine historical Rhode Island based films in cooperation with the Rhode Island Historical Society and new experimental short film premieres.
We’ll also be presenting 2 East Coast Premieres!
The amazing ROTTESØSTRE!-The RAT SISTERS! (Cindy Sawprano & Laurie Amat) will perform a live improvised soundtrack to Berkeley filmmaker Alfonzo Alvarez’s special colorized film edit of Dziga Vertov’s “Man With a Movie Camera”.
And wrapping up PVDLoop 2024, we present The Winkler-Clay Bowman’s 4 movement piece, “The History of the Future”, an electronic performance inspired by the work of visionaries Le Corbusier, Buckminster Fuller, Walt Disney and Paolo Solari. “Through visual, textual and electronic music performance, History of the Future explores the work of these enormously influential thinkers whose unique alloy of mysticism and industrialism was rooted in a mechanistic view of man and, consequently, an implicitly technocratic vision of social order.”
