Nafis M. White joins AS220 as the new Community Membership Manager at the AS220 Industries and brings her expertise in sculpture, printmaking, photography and community organizing to this exciting and critical position. 

She is a multidisciplinary fine artist who creates her work from objects commonly found in beauty supply stores, natural, industrial and irrigation components and the seemingly limitless horizons of our global and political landscapes. Through sculpture, installation, photography and weaving she centers the uncanny audacity of self-affirmation and love by means of repetition as a form of change.

A fun fact about Nafis is that she is a member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers and is obsessed with decoration and adornment.

k. funmilayo aileru expands zir role at AS220 as the new Education Manager at the AS220 Industries. ze brings zir expertise in digital media and fabrication, sculpture, and installation – as well as zir background in secondary and higher education – to this role.

aileru, formerly known as wacklikethat, is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and performer. ze employs a variety of mediums and approaches to engage with concepts such as [ancestral] memory, trauma, and Otherness. An afrofuturist, much of zir work is a meditation on historical and present relationships between technology and marginalized experiences in the West. Ze engages these paradigms through collective imagination and dreaming.

A fun fact about funmi is that ze is a former champion powwow dancer in the Easter Blanket category. 

Ash Russell joins AS220 as IT Support Specialist! Ash is a musician, teaching artist and technologist living in Providence since 2016.

She plays trumpet in the What Cheer? Brigade and teaches guitar, bass and ukulele with RIOT RI (formerly Girls Rock! RI.), and holds a BA in New Media from SUNY Purchase. Ash grew up in Nutley, New Jersey with her mom, dad and little sister Olivia. She enjoys going to shows, life drawing and bike rides.
