AS220 has one affordable live/work studio available on April 1, 2020. Unit 306 is on the communal floor of our Empire Street complex in downtown Providence. The unit is 300 square feet, and rents for $360 per month, plus a $10 per month kitty contribution for cleaning supplies and various other communal expenses.

This unit is subsidized and must be your primary residence. Your gross annual income cannot exceed $28,700 to qualify. Single occupancy only. There is no parking included, it is a non-smoking building, and no pets are allowed. You must be 21 years of age to live on the communal floor.

Residents on the communal floor must be committed to a cooperative living structure, since you share the floor with 10 other people. Aside from paying your rent on time each month each artist/tenant is responsible for 5 hours per month in community service to AS220, for respectful use of common facilities, completing assigned/shared chores for the common spaces on the floor, and attendance at monthly floor meetings.

We will be making a few renovations in the kitchen in the near future to make it adaptable, but that shouldn’t take long. The building will have a new elevator by the beginning of April.

AS220’s Empire Street complex is a busy building housing a performance space, bar and restaurant, youth program, and a dance studio amongst many other things. If you need a lot of peace and quiet, this may not be for you. If you are looking for a lively living environment, and are inspired by other activity, this could be perfect!

Applicants must submit a portfolio of their work, along with all of the required forms, documents, and application to AS220. RI Housing and HUD require a lot of information, so be sure to look at all of the forms in the application link to get all your required documents in order.
