Trainings on Mentoring At-Risk Youth
AS220 Youth has partnered with two other excellent community organizations, RISE and the RI Foster Parent’s Association, to offer bimonthly trainings on mentoring at-risk youth.
AS220 Youth links incarcerated teens with adult mentors from the community. RISE provides mentoring to the children of incarcerated parents. RI Foster Parent’s mentoring program, called Real Connections, provides mentors to youth in DCYF care.
Each session will feature a speaker and discussion on topics like the boundaries in mentoring, the family court system, the adolescent brain, and talking with your mentee about healthy relationships. We’ll provide dinner and plenty of time for networking.
There’s a great need for more mentors in our community! If you want to learn more about mentoring and meet with staff from the three organizations, please join us for our next session on November 5th at 6pm in the AS220 Performance Space, at 115 Empire Street. . The topic will revolve around the family court system.
To RSVP for dinner or inquire about future sessions, please contact Anne Kugler, AS220 Youth Director at anne@as220.org or (401) 467-0701.
