TOPDOG/UNDERDOG by Suzan-Lori Parks presented by Counter-Productions Theatre Company Opens This Weekend!
Topdog/Underdog is a biting exploration of broken families and sibling rivalry. The play tells the story of Lincoln and Booth, two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke, foretelling a lifetime of co-dependency and resentment. Haunted by the past, the brothers are forced to confront the shattering reality of their future. Directed by Ted Clement, the play features actor/playwright David Valentin as Lincoln and spoken word artist Rudy Rudacious as Booth. This brutally honest tale of poverty and alienation was awarded the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for a distinguished play by an American author. It is widely regarded as playwright Suzan-Lori Parks’ most beloved work.
