Foo Fest is taking a vacation in 2019, but you can spend your whole summer AS22O STYLE!

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. After 14 years of producing Foo Fest — our annual summer block party and only major yearly fundraising event — we’re giving it a rest for 2019!

Since 2005, Foo has drawn tens of thousands to Providence to enliven the heart of the Creative Capital, and get an fully-immersive introduction to the creative community happening at AS220. It has hosted national acts like the Sun Ra Arkestra, E.S.G., Andrew W.K., Big Freedia, Psychic TV, and Pere Ubu, just to name a few, and has provided a large-scale stage and audience for well over 200 local performers. More than just a music festival, Foo allowed masses of people to exercise their creative side through the Providence Mini Maker Faire, activities from the AS220 Industries, and interactive experiences from hundreds of partner artists and organizations.

But enough of that ancient history – WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW? This summer, we’ll be presenting several high-profile and affordable (or FREE!) events containing the ingredients of what makes Foo Fest so special – but in easier to digest portions!

AS220 at PVD Fest: June 8th 12 – 6 PM / June 9th 12 – 4 PM
AS220 presents the 2019 Providence Mini Maker Faire – a family-friendly venue for engineers, artists, scientists, crafters, hackers, and creative types to show their projects. But don’t just look at other people’s stuff, make your own! The Faire will be supplemented by hands-on activities from AS220 Industries including printmaking, 3D printing, and the always-popular photo booth!

AS220 Queer Arts Fest: June 9th through 15th
A week of free or pay-what-you-can all-ages programming from our LGBTQAI arts community, leading up to Pride on Saturday, June 15th. Also, with our newly-renovated bar and restaurant, AS220 on Empire Street is the best spot to watch the Pride parade!

AS220 Music Fest: July 20th
Listen to music AND feel good about donating to AS220 – we’re taking the near-20 local acts that are the backbone of Foo and turning them loose in our Main Stage and Black Box Theatre – two newly renovated spaces that boast new sound and A/V systems to ensure these sets will sound better than any at Foo Fest ever did! Not coincidentally, this is an affordable fundraiser supporting AS220’s $5 million All Access campaign to renovate our flagship building!

AS220 Youth presents Futureworlds: August 17th
Futureworlds 5: Escape from Jollyworld is a full-blown theatrical production with live music, dance, set design, costuming, and video by our amazing community of young people to share their vision of a just and equitable world free from systems of oppression!

Access All Areas scavenger hunt: September
Explore the deep, dark corners of AS220 in search of hidden treasures while raising money to support our $5 million All Access campaign to renovate our Empire Street complex!
