SIGN UP FOR COLLOGRAPH!

April 23 & 30, 6-10pm – Sign up online!

Collograph is a unique process that combines the sculptural elements of mixed media with printmaking.  The plates not only produce interesting patterns and embossments in print, they also become beautiful objects in their own right.  An incredibly inexpensive and easy method to learn, collography can be done with or without a press, in the Printshop or at home.

In this workshop, we will collage materials onto a foam-core or cardboard base, and print the plates on the etching press.  Bring materials from home (string, netting, leaves, sandpaper, cloth, etc – really anything with interesting shape or texture) and get ready to experiment.  The instructor will demonstrate just some of the infinite possibilities, such cutting away material to create negative space, and drawing or writing on plates with hot glue.

Students will learn proper press operation and be authorized to use the etching presses after completing this course and signing up for AS220 Industries membership.
