NOVEMBER AT AS220: GO WITH YOUR MOM

NOVEMBER AT AS220: GO WITH YOUR MOM

BACK DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND IS A WRITE UP HIGHLIGHT REEL OF SORTS CONSISTING OF THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING AT THE MAIN STAGE AND PSYCHIC READINGS THIS MONTH! These aren’t ALL of the shows… but some shows are best experienced and not written about. For a complete listing look at the calendar 😉
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7th:
BILL, TIMECOP BEACH PARTY BAYLIES BAND, BEVERAGE HILL
Bill is some psychedelic stuff. The front-man Bill Gage is a serious force of mysticism. Bill has down-syndrome and has used the band “Bill” as a creative outlet for many years. He’s joined by RHD band Beverage Hill as well as the surf sounds of Timecop Beach Party and Baylie’s Band! This show will restore your faith in the universe.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11th:
Have you ever laughed at a Lulz! night? If you haven’t there’s a first time for everything. For example, I had never seen early 2000’s CGI fantastical gay porn until I went to Lulz! Also, I once made a jingle for Lulz and it will get stuck in your head. Don’t believe me? Check out the link above.
Mail the Horse talks about Nick Cave and Graham Parsons when describing themselves and they are from the land of the free New Hampshire, so we’re off to a good start. PILE is one of the best bands from Boston and this dude Rick is from Pile. So now we are two for two here. Someone told me Footings is “good” and I trust this person so we are 3/3. Now here’s the kicker: 1/2 of Suicide Magnets is none other than AS220 Live Arts Production Manager Wendy — and she’s a 9.8 on the rad Richter scale. This show is batting 1.000, How’s that for math?
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14th:
We booked an all day festival in all of the venues because why the heck not? There’s 10 bands from Providence, New Bedford, Boston, and Philly. a Record Show & Vintage Flea Market  and Weird & Strange Movies from the 60s & 70s. “Rager” – “rage” = “r” so this show is rated “r” but not really because it’s all ages.
This sounds really brutal and quite frankly I don’t know if you can handle it. I won’t be there. But you’re not a wuss? Right?
OUCH MY EARS! THIS SHOW IS LOUD! BUT JOHN COUGAR CARNEGIE MELLON CAMP SAYS IT HURT’S SO GOOD.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24th:
Want to learn things about starting your own business endeavor as an artist? Let our new friend’s across the street Roger Williams University Help. Free council!
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24th:
Just in time for Thanksgiving let’s examine the history of slavery in Rhode Island. This documentary, made locally, is screening on the evening of the 24th.
Jodi Jolt and the Volt: these Queens SLAY. Now in a moment of promoter honesty – I haven’t seen these three other bands BUT! (there’s a huge BUT!) Littleboybigheadonbicycle has a really long name, and that’s because he made it as long as his music is poppy and splendid. I listened to it. It’s splendid.
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26TH and 27th:
CLOSED! YO, IT’S HOLIDAY! WE ARE CLOSED!
Merging Arts is renting out the Main Stage for a festival all day and is highlighting films under 6 minutes. It’s awesome! Last year I went with my mom and she loved it so much that she asked me just the other day when the next one is! GO WITH YOUR MOM.
