New staff – Alex Ruiz

We’re exicited to introduce AS220 new Live/Work
Manager, Alex Ruiz!
Hello, My name is Alex Ruiz(He/Him). I would like to take the
opportunity of introducing myself as the new part time Live/Work
Manager at AS220, a position that helps manage AS220’s over 40 housing
and work studio units and the community of artists who call them home!
I grew up a musician in Providence playing saxophone for twenty nine
years and have added guitar and piano to my repertoire. Over the past
ten years I have changed my direction to behind the stage and have
included community work into most of my life. This includes stage and
set building of many kinds. Lighting and sound in both live and film
settings. All of which I have used for projects with AS220, Mixed
Magic theater, Trinity Repertory Company and a variety of artist’s
over the years.
My community work has included teaching techenical theater to Central
Falls high school students, Technical assistance for Rhode Island
Latino Arts, and Operations Director for Haus of Codec, Rhode Island’s
first queer youth homeless shelter.
I hope to share my drive and passion for arts and community with everyone.
Best of wishes.
