Morris and the East Coast was formed after Chris Morris returned from school in Novia Scotia and joined up with some hometown friends on the East Coast. He imagined at first that the members of the band would be in constant flux, and thus chose the title “East Coast” to allow for the continual entrance of new members as others left. The original band of “ramblers,” however, stuck together and over time, the group has grown from “a pretty standard singer-songwriter band,” into a more cohesive, blues and rock and roll group. Morris and the East Coast has just released their third collection of recordings, an album which Chris describes as “more playful than the others.” This is Morris and the East Coast’ second time playing at AS220 and audiences should arrive expecting, “some good foot-stomping, free-wheeling, slow-dancing, dirt-bagging, sing alongs.
They recently published the album, “Boughs of Pine” on bandcamp and will be celebrating the release tonight
