Live / work vacancies at Empire Street
AS220 has two upcoming live / work studio vacancies in our communal living space, Floor 3 of our Empire Street Complex (115 Empire Street, Providence, RI) starting in August and September, respectively.
Unit 304 is 408 square feet and rents for $455 per month. It is available for August 15th.
Unit 305 is 245 square feet and rents for $357 per month. It is available for September 1st. This unit has built in cabinets, a work counter, and bed loft, so there isn’t much room for furniture.
The units are affordable housing and must be your primary residence. The annual gross income of the applicant can not exceed $28,150. You will have to include proof of income with your application in the form of 8 weeks of pay stubs or some other third party documentation. Your minimum annual gross income must not be below $8,568 for Unit 305 and no lower than $10,920 for Unit 304.
Residential artists must be committed to a cooperative living structure since you share the floor with 10 other people. You have your own room and share kitchen and bath facilities with your other floor mates. Aside from paying your rent on time each month each artist/tenant is responsible for 5 hours per month in community service to AS220, respectful use of common facilities, completing chores for the common spaces on Floor 3, and attendance at monthly floor meetings. There is no parking included, it is a non smoking building, and no pets are allowed. Given the fact the space is on the communal live floor it is for single occupancy only. You also must be 21 years of age or over to live in this building.
Tenants also pay a $10 per month kitty contribution for shared cleaning supplies and various other communal expenses on the floor such as paper goods. The tenant is not responsible for any utilities.
This space is in our main building on Empire Street. Please realize it is a noisy building between the performances downstairs, the dance studio down the hall and youth program on the second floor, aside from being in an urban environment. There will be some construction on the floor while we put an elevator in the building, possibly starting late Fall into Winter or early Spring, so there will be some noise and disruption. We’re also making improvements in the kitchen and bathrooms. So, be forewarned that if you live here there will be some noise and disruption. We will do our best to minimize the impact on the floor.
Applicants must submit a portfolio of their work and the application to AS220. Electronic support materials are encouraged.
Applications are due by Sunday, July 29th at midnight. We will interview the first 6 applicants with completed applications.
