AS220 has one affordable live studio available November 1, 2015 on Floor3, the communal floor at 115 Empire Street in Providence. The units are subsidized and must be your primary residence.
AS220 values and welcomes diversity in our residential and work studios and strongly encourages all qualified persons to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for residence without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, ability, age, or veteran status.
The income of the resident should not exceed $26,050 though there may be some flexibility at this time. You will have to include proof of income with your application in the form of paystubs or some other third party documentation.
Residential artists must be committed to a cooperative living structure since you share the floor with 11 other people.
Aside from paying your rent on time each month each artist/tenant is responsible for 5 hours per month in community service to AS220, is responsible for for respectful use of common facilities, for completing assigned/shared chores for the common spaces on the floor and attendance at monthly floor meetings.
There is no parking included, it is a non smoking building and no pets are allowed. Given the fact the space is on the communal live floor it is for single occupancy only.
The current vacancy is unit 309 is 324 square feet and the rent is $414 per month plus a $10 per month kitty contribution for cleaning supplies and various other communal expenses on the floor. The tenant is not responsible for any utilities.
There will be some construction on the floor installing new HVAC units in each room this late fall and into the winter so there will be some noise and disruption. We will then be installing an elevator to the floor later in 2016. We are also making some improvements in the kitchen. After all this nobody will ever want to leave! So be forewarned if you live here there will be some noise and disruption. We will do our best to minimize the impact on the floor.
Applicants must submit a portfolio of their work and the application to AS220.
Electronic support materials are encouraged.
