IS THIS JAZZ? Friday, February 1st

The Becca Stevens Band is coming to “Is This Jazz?”!

You heard it right, on February 1st, ITJ will be hosting the Becca Stevens Band as part of our one year anniversary show! We have seen a lot of great acts come through over this past year, and this night will bring yet another. She has performed all over the world with her unique take on jazz and will be bringing her band of equally talented musicianswith her to the AS220 stage.

All Music writes that Stevens “has truly cultivated…a sound one wants to savor again and again” and All ABout Jazz adds that she “emerges at an exciting time in jazz vocal music when boundaries are being pushed, reset, and pushed again. Her organic style is exciting and innovative, made even more so by her groundbreaking singing”. Check out more words of praise for Becca Stevens here and you’ll quickly understand why you should be attending this concert!

Wait, there’s more!

While the Becca Stevens Band may be enough to justify coming to the show, we have two other great local acts. In fact, these two groups were part of the very first ITJ show at AS220 and we are incrdibly excited to have them back. Opening the night will be The Greg Dudzienski Trio with Dudzienski throwing down impressive lines from his tenor saxophone. For our middle act, we welcome back The Wayout, a group of great RI local jazz musicians who, as they say on their site “specialize in making eclectic music based on original compositions and spontaneous improvisation”.

This show looks to be a great one, and a very special one in that we get to celebrate a full year of ITJ bringing inovative, inspired, incredible jazz music to the city of Providence. Please buy your tickets here so that we can get this concert happening.
