Friday , November 16th at 5:30 p.m. artist Laurent Bonetto will be giving an artist talk/hands on demo on ceramics at the AS220 Project Space. This is an intro talk suitable for young and old alike. (& there are many fine pieces on display that make great holiday gifts!) Free.

Laurent Bonetto’s works with that noble mud known as clay. Laurent  was seduced by this mud at first touch. Working by day in a high-tech computer-internet centric world, ceramic’s provided Laurent permission to touch, caress, compress, crush mud and give birth to forms directly form the earth with his bare hands.  Every step of the process is governed by touch and “listening ” to the clay while it is being wedged and then worked on the wheel. The ceramicist is very engaged in the process but at the same time chance plays a vital role. Laurent cuts to the core of the issue in his artist statement,  “Like everything delicate and worth living for, clay needs to be listened to more than it needs to be talked to.”

Talk and hands on introduction to clay will be at the AS220 Project Space located at 93 Mathewson St. in downtown Providence, RI, Friday, November 16th at 5:30 p.m. Free and open to the public.
