This panel brings together a group of artists, writers, and activists to discuss the relationship of abolitionist work and thinking to independent publishing. Envisioned as an informal discussion about zine-making and radical imaginaries, this conversation will touch on the importance of independent media in envisioning a world without prisons and an end to racial capitalism.

Panelists include Prof. Mimi Thi Nguyen (author of The Gift of Freedom and the chapbook Punk), Prof. Eric Stanley (editor of Trap Door: Trans Cultural Production and the Politics of Visibility), as well as Providence-based artists MJ Robinson and Dailen Williams. Moderated by Christopher J. Lee and sponsored by the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice as part of the Whitewashing Abolition conference.
