Words of hope is an open mic poetry slam for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. Often survivors hold their pain inside and never express what they went through to the outside world. Expression can be healing. Many people never suspect that this could happen to them, someone they love, or even someone they pass by. This event will raise awareness in the community that these things do happen to the people around us. There will be a white curtain hung on the stage with a light behind it for those who are not comfortable with showing their face. Survivors are stronger than they even know. We can make a difference!
