AS220 presents two distinct nights with Mark Hosler, founding member of Negativland, May 15th and 16th.

May 15th: Hosler will play a rare solo set at the 95 Empire Black Box using homemade one­-of-­a-kind electronic devices (including two of Negativland’s original “Boopers”). Mark will be joined by an eclectic bill ofRhode Islanders, including Houseboy, Lucy Lie, Frank Difficult, Kara Stokowski and Black Iron Prison (aka Mark Cetilia).

May 16th: AS220’s Media Arts Lecture Series presents Mark Hosler’s “Adventures in Illegal Art”, a film/lecture presentation made by Negativland in collaboration with various other experimental filmmakers. The presentation covers issues of creative and humorous anti-corporate art/activism, the role of advertising and corporate power in our lives, intellectual property issues, and the evolution of art, law and resistance in a media saturated multi-national world.
