The Stone Unturned
Imagine a dinner party hosted by the Beatles, with a guest list that includes XTC, Squeeze, the Zombies and Kinks, Aimee Mann and Elvis Costello. Melodic, hook-driven songs with narrative lyrics. Retro and fresh. Drenched in harmony.
Devoted to all types of music, especially sounds of the previous generation, singer/songwriter Justin Marra has transformed his introspective journal entries and electric “garage band” tunes into a fresh folky upbeat sound. Justin’s music reflects the influences of classic singer songwriters like Billy Joel, Harry Chapin, Bob Dylan, and Carol King as well as the harmonica of Junior Wells. Drawing on ‘pop’ sensibilities and blues guitar his music defies being pigeonholed into any one category. Though not his first album, MUSE was his first ‘adult’ release. Shifting focus to acoustic expression Justin’s performances have become socially conscious, mature and appealing to a larger audience.
Jacob Haller has been a fixture of the Rhode Island music scene for the past ten years, and has been frequently featured in popular shows such as AS220’s Empire Revue and Common Fence Point Music’s annual Gathering of Fiddlers & Fishermen.
In 2010 he was nominated for ‘Best Singer/Songwriter’ in the Providence Phoenix, and, in 2011, his song ‘The Ballad of Anne Hutchinson’ was one of those selected to be played in ‘Singing About Providence’, a show celebrating Providence’s 375th anniversary put on by HEAR In Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Songwriters Association.
