For one night only, a piece about suicide, loss and grief from Texas based artist Jim Pirtle. The artist describes the piece in his own words as:
“On Jan 9 my partner of 3 years hung herself in my art studio. I used Facebook as a platform to write about my grief and attempts to understand “why” she did this. Half of my brain was on the floor crying and the other half observed the process and wrote about it. In the Houston creative community some 17 people have died from suicide in the past 3 years. I tried to make sense of this and described a journey that I am still on that suicide is the last taboo that no one wants to talk about. But 40 thousand die every year and 1 million try each year… we need to talk as a society…. it is 1 hr of multi media and reading that tries to dispel the shame connected with depression and having someone you love die from suicide.”
