Sacred Harp Singing

Join us in the traditional American folk music known as “Shape-Note” or “Sacred Harp.” No musical experience is required and newcomers are always welcome. In Sacred Harp singing, there are no performances and no rehearsals (also, no harps, just your voice). Each event is its own unique gathering of participants. This unaccompanied, four-part harmony singing style started in New England in the 18th century, was developed in the American South in the 19th and 20th centuries, and is now practiced across the country and internationally.
