Romp of Otters (ROO) is the graduate theater company in the Brown University department of theatre arts and performance studies. The company consists of MFA students in acting and directing at Brown/Trinity Repertory Company, and playwriting and theater arts and performance studies doctoral students at Brown University.
As described by Eric Ehn, Chair, Theatre Arts and Performance Studies, ROO is a sibling of FOO (the AS220 restaurant) – a practical foray into ambient art and hospitality-as-spectacle. A lo-fi and sudden way to generate cross disciplinary art pan-programmatically (pulling Brown and Trinity Theater MFA programs into tighter embrace), the venue is entirely student run. The collective produces what they like when they like, and as they like, in cooperation with 95 Empire.
