ROO Presents "Bengal Tiger in the Baghdad Zoo" by Rajiv Joseph

Brown/Trinity Romp of Otters Presents:

May 19th- 21st, 7pm and May 20-21st 2pm

Bengal Tiger At the Baghdad Zoo tells the story of two marines and an Iraqi interpreter whose paths intersect at the beginning of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. This play by Rajiv Joseph is a thrilling surrealist exploration of the human psyche that fearlessly tackles the “larger-than life.” Through shock, sarcasm, and magical realism Joseph exposes the sheer destruction caused by exceptionalist dogma — a phenomena we don’t often acknowledge here in the U.S. or at Brown, but that has blinded American politicians and citizens alike for centuries. This play isn’t the nationalist fairytale of vindication and justice we were all fed growing up…it’s the harsh reality.
