11-16 PVD (1)Queen Elephantine (Philadelphia — formerly from PVD)
Formed in 2006 in Hong Kong and currently based in Philadelphia, USA, QUEEN ELEPHANTINE is a nebulous worship of heavy mood and time. The shapeshifting post-apocalyptic rock band draws from psychedelia, doom, drone, and noise as well as free jazz and sacred music from around the world. They have released five albums as well as splits with Elder and Sons of Otis and have a collaboration forthcoming with Phurpa, the renowned Tibetan ritual band from Russia. GORGON, their sixth LP, will be released November 2019 on Italy’s Argonauta Records.
The Hammer Party
ALL-STAR NOISE ROCK SUPERGROUP – scorching hot sounds from members of Landed, Glazed Baby, and Olneyville Sound System. This hammer party gives a whole new meaning to dirty dancing.
Rectrix & Gyna Bootleg
A collaboration between Pippi Zornoza and Stephanie Neves — two artists who constantly push the boundaries of art and sound and reach into the darkest hidden corners of the soul, both individually and as members of many great PVD bands. Their work “manifests the undernourished expression of female power.”
Mark Cetilia
A sound / media artist working at the nexus of analog and digital technologies. Exploring the possibilities of generative systems in art, design, and sound practice, Cetilia’s work is an exercise in carefully controlled chaos. His work has been exhibited around the world at venues including the Institute of Contemporary Art London, Oboro (Montréal), and O’ (Milan). Recordings have been published by Interval, Radical Matters, Dragon’s Eye, and Estuary Ltd., which he runs with his partner Laura.
