Ben Guihan is a singer songwriter, guitar player, and visual artist, born and raised in Vermont. As a teenager Guihan became enamored if not a little obsessed with the folk revival of the early sixties, drawn in by performers such as Pete Seeger, Dave van Ronk , Joan Baez ,and groups like the Clancy brothers and Tommy Makem.. Around the same time Guihan started reading poets like Arthur Rimbaud, Jack Kerouac, and Gregory Corso. Taking some inspiration from works such as the Child ballads, Ben started writing his own songs in an acoustic, narrative style full of vivid imagery – characters, landscapes, and surreal symbolism. “As long as I can remember I’ve been drawing pictures, in sketch books, over school work but sometime probably when I was around 16 or 17 I felt I couldn’t draw what I was seeing so I began to write. “
After leaving Vermont, Guihan spent several months busking in Boston and the southwestern U.S. and now resides in Providence, Rhode Island. Guihan has recorded a collection of songs on a self-published album, “Welcome to the Land of the Fortune” and continues to record new material for a forthcoming album.
