Bringing Printmaking and Digital Fabrication Together!
In this workshop you will use the Epilog Mini lasercutter to design symbols and motifs, also known as ornaments to complement woodtype from AS220 type collection. Once the ornaments are created and assembled with the type, students will be guided through creating a series of prints on the Vandercook letterpress. This first session will cover production of the wood type ornaments on the lasercutter, the second session will cover printing on the Letterpress. Materials included.

Instructor: José Menéndez
José R. Menéndez (b.08/80) grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a graphic designer and a landscape designer with ten years of experience in landscape architecture and urban design. José completed an MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. This Spring he will complete a Master of Marine Affairs from University of Rhode Island. At URI, he focuses on the application of information design and graphic design to climate science communication. He is currently teaching a Design/Technology course for the Department of Jewelry + Metalsmithing at the Rhode Island School of Design.
