James Paternostro is a 23 year old acoustic singer/songwriter originally from Essex, Connecticut who recently moved to Providence in June in order to further the pursuits of his musical dreams. James has been playing guitar for 9 years and has been singing and writing music for 7 years. He places a heavy precedence on lyrical content and feeling and views his songs like personal diary entries doused in allegory and metaphor that only he knows the full meaning to (although at times he still doesn’t) with the music serving as a backing track that captures the emotional essence of each entry. James has a wide variety of musical tastes and influences that range from Elton John to The Wutang Clan and everything else in between. That being said, some artists that specifically capture his imagination time and again include Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Dave Matthews, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Sufjan Stevens, and Milo (in particular his album So The Flies Don’t Come, he calls it what everyone associated with and listening to modern hip hop should be taking note of but isn’t).
