On Friday, February 3rd at AS220 we will be celebrating a milestone for “Is This Jazz?”. As of the series will officially reach our 5 Year Anniversary! That’s sixty months of putting on some of the best jazz shows in town, hosting killer groups from around the country, and being a home base for fantastic local musicians to showcase their original material. To mark the occasion we will be hosting another one of our “Hanging With The Locals” shows in which we will be inviting a few musicians whom have meant a lot to us over the past five years to come sit in with the band and showcase some of their best material. For this edition our house group will be friends of the series Four Agreements. Formed initially as a weekly jam by a group of friends, the band features Clay Nordhill on guitar, Tom White on keyboards, Sam Kurzontkowski on bass, and Paul DiMartino on drums. The group uses original compositions as a vehicle to explore possibilities in sound and communication. Afterwards we will open up the stage for a jam so all those who wish to play will be able to come through, sit in, and participate. Bring your axe, bring a chart, and bring the noise to help us create some more killer music to celebrate the past few years.
It has been a privilege to witness on our stage some of the most adventurous, stirring music that Providence has ever seen and to be part of this incredible community of local musicians, artists, and enthusiasts for so long. It is truly due to all you dedication and support that this series marches on. As always the show kicks at 9pm and admission is a mere $10 which goes to help pay the rippin’ musicians.
Thank you so much for being there with us, we can’t wait to see what’s coming to the stage next!
