This three-session workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of creating hand-coded websites and web content using HTML and CSS through several in-class exercises. The code will focus on the most current HTML and CSS standards and practices, so your knowledge will be up-to-date.  Other topics addressed will include image-optimization, web servers and hosting. All materials will be supplied. The software used in class is free and open source. You may also use your own laptop.  Whether you want to make an online portfolio, résumé, or just want to get an idea about the nuts and bolts of web design, this workshop is for you.

Location and Parking

AS220 Media Arts is located at the Mercantile building at 131 Washington Street Providence, Rhode Island, on the 2nd floor. The entrance is located at the back of the building on Lucie Way (Martha Street on GPS and computers).  You’ll see our sign on a set of double doors; ring the doorbell there and someone will let you in. There is 2 hour metered on-street parking available, bring your quarters. We are also located near a parking garage with entry on Washington Street – look for the big blue parking sign.

Important Class Policies
Please be respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn and be on time. If you arrive more than half an hour late, we will not be able to teach you what you signed up for. Plan ahead, it always takes time to find on-street parking. To cancel your registration, you must email mediaarts@as220.org at least two weeks in advance, or risk losing your payment.

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES
If the minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the teacher may opt to cancel class. If this is the case, we will give a full refund of class payment and first choice to enroll in future classes. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible.
