Registration required in advance!

Dancers at the intermediate level and above are invited to enjoy all the fun parts of ballet outside! The 1 hr 15 min class will include a floor barre and stretch, center barre, adagio, jumps, and moving combinations…all modified for dancing in sneakers outside. (We’ll be sure to kick off the sneakers and work your feet a bit on the floor; bring a theraband if you wish!) In the outside setting, you can work on stability and core strength while remembering why you love ballet. Without the distraction of the mirror, you can challenge your balance, really feel your alignment, focus on port de bras, and enjoy jumping and moving in the fresh air. Please bring a mat or towel and sneakers, along with a sense of adventure!

Instructor Ann Ditmars Huyck teaches ballet at AS220 and Providence College. She holds an MFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and was certified as an instructor of the New York City Ballet Workout.

AS220 is proud to announce its partnership with The Historic Haus of Glitter Performance Lab + Parq (former Esek Hopkins Homestead + Park) as a satellite outdoor space for AS220 Dance + AS220 Youth programming. The Glitter Goddess Collective + Haus of Glitter Dance Company is known for their strong partnerships in our community; as well as their mission to decolonize creativity and create accessible space for healing, transformation, and Queer-Feminist-BIPOC-centered programming. This partnership would not be possible without the PARKIST Artist Residency with the Providence Parks Department & Department of Art+Culture+Tourism.
