Illuminate My Heart Records is bringing you the very first edition of Illuminate My Heart (My Darling) Fest. This first edition will be a one day fest in support of the local non-profit bully breed rescue shelter, Handsome Dan Rescue! We will be bringing the best of the best when it comes to screamo/hardcore/punk/HipHop to Providence to help support our doggo comrades. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Handsome Dan!!
For those unfamiliar with Handsome Dan Rescue’s mission….
It all started with Handsome Dan, one of the 22 dogs that came from Michael Vick’s estate after he was arrested and charged with “conspiracy to engage in dog fighting in violation of the animal welfare act”.
Fast forward to today, they help with the placement, care, and overall wellbeing of pit bull/bully breed dogs. They advocate the rescue and placement of these dogs that were previously considered by other shelters to be “unadoptable” through a network of amazingly talented and caring foster families. Most of the dogs have been rescued from severe abuse and neglect, often including victims of dog fighting. Each dog in their program has a training and behavior improvement plan, some intensive and other less formal. Foster families are equipped with everything necessary, by the rescue shelter, to insure that these dogs are as happy and as comfortable as possible. Families are set up with… food, vet care, supplies and emotional support! The caring individuals at Handsome Dan Rescue need as much support as possible to make sure they can maintain a consistent effort to empower and nourish these misunderstood dogs that are in really bad places, mentally and physically.
