The mission of Betsy Miller Dance Projects is to facilitate the creation and performance of Miller’s work and to offer audiences carefully-crafted dance pieces that are sophisticated, yet accessible. Betsy Miller Dance Projects creates intimate works that are whimsical, heavily layered, and thoroughly human. They are born in the tension between our complex, messy lived experience and the reductive images we perpetuate through religion, media, and cultural politics. Miller’s work has been presented in various venues throughout New York City, and in Ohio, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Texas, and she has received funding from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, The City of Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and The Ohio State University.
Funding provided in part by grants from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and private funders.
