Evening Sky, a jazz/roots quartet from Providence (Chris Brooks – Pedal Steel, Eric Hastings – Drums, Joe Potenza – Bass, and Gino Rosati – Guitar), will play songs from their latest release, One Mic, Two Weekends, (available for hi-resolution download at NativeDSD.com). Their sound has been described as: “Pat Metheny to Patsy Cline. Walkin’ After Midnight to Walking on the Moon. Coltrane to train beats.” They will be joined by special guests Ben Shaw on saxophone and Brian Drye on trombone. www.eveningskyband.com
One small silver lining of the pandemic was it afforded longtime friends Brian Drye and Eric Hastings the opportunity to finally spend quality musical time together and record an album. Their families formed a “Covid-pod” which enabled them to have a small semblance of a normal summer (the album cover is actually a picture of their children at Misquamicut Beach) and spend some quality time composing and recording at Hastings’ studio in Providence. Ocean State is the result. They will be joined by members of Evening Sky.
