The formation of Droplets dates to early 2020, when longtime friends ⭐️Cayce!⭐️ (vocals) and Coco (bass) began writing a set of funk tunes with their robot friend, Robot (inhuman beatbox). However, due to its struggles with substance abuse and sex addiction, it soon became apparent that Robot was not up to the task, and they were quickly replaced by Din (synths) – a hot-headed cyborg who represents a significant technical (if somewhat volatile) upgrade over his predecessor.
Coalescing around this new lineup, the band began fleshing out a series of vignettes programmed and sequenced by Din – these sketches are generally underpinned by dreamy, psych-tinged melodies punctuated with random outbursts of feedback and noise. ⭐️Cayce!⭐️’s lyrics and soulful singing bring a pop sensibility to the proceedings, and Coco rounds out the equation with his sinewy bass lines.
Barring a major meltdown of Din’s CPU, Droplets hope to release their debut album in late ‘21.
