Amy Hope Dermont (1969-2016) was an artist in various media, most notably in the creation of soft sculpture dolls.  She was a dedicated supporter of the arts and the independent underground music scene both locally and internationally, from which she created digital photos of concert and club performers. She attended both the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth where  she served as the station manager and program director of WSMU-FM (now WUMD) college radio, and Rhode Island College.  She was among the first resident artists at the Empire Street location of AS220 where she exhibited her works.  She also exhibited at various other galleries in the New England area.  Many of her dolls are in the hands of collectors near and far.  But perhaps her greatest creation was the network of friends she developed among her fellow music lovers.
