Christians & Lions
Christians & Lions is a long-running New England DIY dreamfolk collective founded in 2004 by Ben Potrykus (Bent Shapes, Receiving End of Sirens, etc) with brother Sam Potrykus, Matt Sisto, and Chris Mara. Ranging from a solo act to a 7-piece ensemble featuring viola, trumpet, trombone, accordion, upright bass, and more, C&L is known for intimate performances that find equal footing in settings as diverse as living rooms, basements, bars, street corners, and more. Their first album in ten years, Young Familiar, will be released in late 2019.
Moon Racer (Durham, NC)
Moon Racer takes her name from the winged lion who rules over an island haven for misfit toys in the 1964 stop-animation film, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. With the same loyal commitment to the weird and sentimental, Autumn E. creates fuzzy keyboard pop songs in her bedroom in Durham, North Carolina, leaning heavily on vintage Casiotone keyboards and a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder. Last year Orindal Records released the debut cassette Is it Really a Secret?, a hazy, lo-fi spell of distorted beats, warm synths & melodically melancholic vocals.
