$25 (includes post-show champagne toast) – all proceeds go to benefit the operation and maintenance of the AS220 dance studio

The Bill Evans Dance Company gave its first performances at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. in the summer of 1975. For several years, the company—then based in Seattle–was the most-booked professional U.S. dance ensemble. It has appeared in all 50 U.S. states, throughout Canada and Mexico, and in 20 other countries. In April of 2014, the Company celebrated its 40th anniversary in Rochester, NY, where it had been in residence for 10 years.

In August of 2014, Mr. Evans moved to Providence, where his husband, Don Halquist, is the new Dean of the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development at Rhode Island College. To celebrate his 75th birthday, and to introduce himself to the Rhode Island dance community, AS220 will host an afternoon of Evans’ works, performed by Evans, Halquist, and dance majors from the Palladino School of Dance at Dean College in Franklin, MA, whereEvans is a professor of dance.

Tickets for the concert will be $25 and will include a glass of champagne. Tickets are available for purchase online.

AS220 is Rhode Island’s unjuried, uncensored, and all-ages home and forum for the arts, located in downtown Providence, since 1985. AS220 maintains a dance studio, located on the third floor of 95 Empire Street, that offers affordable and publicly accessible dance and fitness classes 6 days (and nights) a week – all proceeds from this concert go directly to funding the operation and maintenance of the studio.
