PROVIDENCE, RI – AS220 Live Arts is pleased to announce a public call for Resident Theatre Companies and Production Residencies for the 2016-2017 season, due May 1st, 2016.
AS220 Live Arts offers four different kinds of theatre residency structures, one of which is new for the 2016-2017 Season. For 2016-2017, theatre companies producing a full season of work (four weekends and two special events) with their own production/technical team can apply to become a Resident Company. AS220’s current resident companies include the Manton Avenue Project, Counter-Productions Theatre Company and the Brown/Trinity Romp of Otters. Applications for Resident Companies for 2016-2017 are due on May 1st, 2016, with acceptance or deferral of resident status by June 1st, 2016.
AS220 is providing an early bird special for its 1-2 Week Production Residency: all companies that submit an AS220 Booking Form for a Production Residency by May 1st, 2016 will be insured a weekend run in the 2016-2017 season.
AS220 is also launching Providence Shorts, an incubator for short pieces of local theatre, dance and performance art, to encourage local artists’ preparation for residency opportunities, and to expand audiences. Artists can apply to have fifteen hours of rehearsal space during the course of a month to create a 5 -15 minute original work. Providence Shorts recipients will perform their piece three times, as the opening act for an AS220 Theatre/Dance Production Residency of a touring company and will receive a $100 dollar stipend.
