Artist Talk with Max Van Pelt @ AS220 Project Space

Aug 22 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

CONCURRENCY: Recent work by Max Van Pelt
The AS220 Project Space is excited to present an exhibition of recent abstractions by Providence based
painter-sculptor Max Van Pelt. Issuing from observations of architecture, emotion, environment, and
imagination, this open-ended body of intricate welded steel sculptures and exuberant mixed media paintings
aims to connect viewers sympathetically with their surroundings. The resulting works are optimistic, places
where divergent attitudes, appearances, and forces have a tendency to converge and resolve in the
necessities of cohabitation.

Van Pelt is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a BFA in Studio Art. He has been the recipient of
numerous awards and honors in the arts, more of which can be found on his website: www.maxvanpelt.com
Max derives additional passion as an experienced whitewater kayaker, keymember at the AS220 Printshop,
and former member of the United States World Archery Team. This is Max’s first solo exhibition in RI.
