AS220 is excited to host Marci Washington as the Artist in Residence for the month of June 2013.

During her residency, Marci has been working on a set of paintings that she will showcase at AS220’s 95 Empire Black Box Theater on Wed, June 26th from 6-7pm. Free Admission.

Marci Washington is a visual artist from the California bay area. She has been featured in prominent contemporary arts publications, such as Hi Fructose, Juxtapoz Magazine, and New American Paintings. Marci attended the California College of the Arts and Crafts, where she received her BFA in 2002 and her MFA in 2008.

“I am interested in building a fictional narrative with connections to history as well as to the present. It’s like I’m illustrating a novel that doesn’t exist. If it did, it would probably be a lot like Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, or Turn of the Screw- novels which function as social commentary as well as haunting epics of supernatural romanticism. ” – Marci Washington.
