DIGITAL CITY: CREATING A RHODE ISLAND DIGITAL MEDIA INDUSTRY
Digital City RI Open House
Monday, November 11th, 5-7 PM
AS220 Mercantile Block, Unit 206, 131 Washington Street, Providence
Digital City is hosting a preview for their new collaborative work space in downtown Providence!
Housed at AS220’s Mercantile Block, this production and work space will be a hub for digital media artists (television and film producers, animators, video game designers, sound engineers, public relations and design professionals, distributors, software developers, and many others!) to gather, work, and collaborate in an affordable, community-oriented environment. Full-time members of Digital City will also enjoy complimentary access to the AS220 Industries’ (AS220 Community Printshop, AS220 Labs, AS220 Media Arts) facilities, equipment, and resources. Digital City’s space at AS220 will serve as an experimental test-bed for a larger Digital Media Design and Production Center expected to open in 2015.
Directed by Taliesin Gilkes-Bower, Digital City was founded by Gary Glassman (documentary film-maker and head of Providence Pictures) and is run jointly with Renee Hobbs, the Director and Founder of the Harrington School of Communication and Media at URI. Lucie Searle (President, Providence Preservation Society) headed the Steering Committee to find space. Digital City is funded by the Rhode Island Foundation.Join us to welcome Digital City to downtown and to find out more about how you can become involved with this exciting new initiative!
