The purpose of this trip was twofold: to see Accidental Nostalgia, a play by Cynthia Hopkins that was workshopped at AS220 and performed at Perishable Theater last December, and to visit Harlem. The theme for this year's Fools Ball is the Harlem Renaissance, and I've been doing a lot of research not only on the era but also on contemporary Harlem. In my reading I kept finding interesting parallels between Harlem and Providence, so it seemed only appropriate to visit the actual location--wander around a little, visit landmarks, and take pictures.
