This class will teach students the skills needed to develop vector graphics for the Laser Cutter and Vinyl Cutter machine as the Labs. Designs can also be used for professional printing, web design, and computer graphics.

LAB 210 Advanced Laser Cutter: Take your laser knowledge to the next level! Over two class sessions, learn everything from file preparation and set up to proper cutting techniques for the Epilog Laser Cutter. Basic cleanup and safety procedures will be covered in this class and will help students become expert users of one of our most popular and versatile machines in the FabLab.

Creation Courses

Learn how to unleash your creativity in various mediums

EA 101 Electronics for Artists: This is the first of a series of classes designed to teach the basics of electronics to those interested mostly in the practical with just a little bit of the theoretical. EA101 will introduce students to basic electronic components, how to design and prototype simple circuits, and where to go from there.

Arduino for All: This is a workshop ( with an Arduino Kit for you to keep ) that will get you going on the basics of the Arduino. It will have 3 meetings, 2 with instruction and one for free play with asistance available.

Arduino and Servo Motor Workshop: Make your project move using an Arduino and a Servo Motor.

Audio Engineering 101: This course will provide a primer for those interested in digital audio production. Students will learn fundamental concepts and gain practical experience producing their own music.

Previously Offered Workshops

Here is a partial list of one off classes we've offered in the past. Contact james@as220.org if you want to see these offered again.

PRJ 100 Buy a kit, Build a Kit]]: Buy a kit, learn to Solder! Choose from the MintyBoost battery pak, Atari Punk Console, TV-b-Gone and Open Heart machine, all available here at AS220Labs!

AVR Assembly Language: This workshop will focus on the low-level operation and programming of Atmels 8-bit AVR line of micro-controllers, specifically the ATmega328 which serves as the core of the Arduino Duemilanove development board. By systematically stepping through the details of the ATmega328 architecture, students will learn the methods by which it can be configured, controlled and interfaced to the outside world. Some general programming/electronics experience or knowledge of the Arduino platform is preferred. This class is intended to provide Arduino users with a greater understanding of and control over the low-level operation of the system core and to inspire an appreciation for the elegance and artistry of microcontroller system design and assembly language programming.

Circuit Bend the Easy Button: Taught by June Hacker in Residence Jimmie P. Rodgers, learn to modify the Staples Easy Button and turn it into a cool noise machine!

Circuit Bending II: Another in the June Hacker-in-Residence series, follow up your Easy Button bend with a project of your own! Bring a noise making toy and transform it into a cooler, noiser toy!

Atari Punk Console Kit Build: Let June Hacker-in-Residence Jimmie Rodgers show you how to make a noise machine that fits in an altoids tin!
